Book Singing Lessons For In-Person and Skype Below
Currently, Matt Ramsey is on sabbatical to work on other singing projects (more about this soon…).
At the moment, the ONLY way to get personalized coaching from Matt is through our interactive singing course Master Your Voice – which provides detailed 1:1 instruction and lifetime access.
If you’re interested in being referred to another teacher, please use the contact form on our website to send us a message and we’d be happy to direct you.
What to expect at your first lesson
The first thing we’ll do is discuss your past, present and future training, performances and goals.
I will assess the quality of your range from the bottom to the top of your voice. This is the assessment section of the lesson.
Next, we’ll talk about the challenges you’ve been having vocally and their root causes without getting too technical or boring (even though there is a ton of cool research I do as a voice teacher).
Then I will prescribe exercises tailored specifically to improve your voice. You should feel an improvement in range and quality quickly.
From there, the sky is the limit. Often, we’ll work on songs you love to develop your voice. Whether it’s increasing range, singing high notes without falsetto, or getting ready for a world tour, it’s important we get right to work on your voice.
The only thing that you should bring is an idea of a song you might like to work on. We will normally try to have you sing a song during your first lesson to apply the exercises we cover.
Interested in lessons!
Hey Tristan, looks like you were able to book a free-first lesson.
See you soon!

I am now 68 yrs old and still passionate about singing can i still improve my vocal range?
Singing is for every one whether you are young or old go for it.
I am now 68 yrs old and still passionate about singing can i still improve my vocal range?
Hello Yance, thanks for your message. The answer is: Absolutely!
I’ve written an article on this subject you can check out here: https://ramseyvoice.com/too-old-to-sing/
The bottom line is that while the voice changes as you age, the old saying “if you don’t use it, you lose it” still applies.
Your best chance of increasing your range (no matter your age) is working on exercises in private lessons that are custom tailored to your voice.
To get started, you can book a “Free First Voice Lesson” in the panel above if you’re in Austin, TX.
If you’re outside Austin, select the “Free Skype Vocal Evaluation”.
Worked with a couch a few months ago still haven’t been able to fully belt out to full range please help
Worked with a coach a FEW months ago still haven’t been able to fully belt out to full range please help
Hello Kaveena, what happens when you try to sing the higher notes in your range?
Do you crack, flip, or pull and strain?
Hey Matt. I had a few lessons with you but it was a few years back. i remember a lot, just need to get back into the swing of things. what should i start with? thanks!
Hey Kelly, great to hear from you! I’d recommend signing up for a 60-Minute class so I can have a good listen. Then we can discuss frequency/duration of lessons moving forward.
You can book a 60-Minute class here: https://ramseyvoice.com/book-singing-lessons/
Looking forward to it!
Don sent me here
Hey Corey, that’s great. Don’s a wonderful student. If you’d like to get started with singing lessons, choose one of the lesson options above to schedule something. Let me know if you have any trouble!
Are your first free lessons in person? I am very interested in lessons.
Hey Tara-Jean, yes our first in-person lesson is free!
Looks like you already signed up. Nice!
See you then.
Hello MATt I like your classes.
Hi, I’m interested in booking an hour lesson this coming month. I see you offer a free 30min lesson first. Are those private in person?
Hey Louis, thanks for your message. Yes, the first 30-minute in-person lesson is free for students in Austin.
At the end of the consult, I should be able to give you a better idea of how long and how often I’d do lessons to achieve your goals.
Can you help me get ready for the next musical, or is musical theatre singing different than normal singing?
Hey Brandon, while every style of music is different, good vocal technique stays the same.
I work with students in rock, pop and music theater so I’d love to help you.
Go ahead and book a lesson when you’re ready.
I’ve been singing all my life, mostly things I’m interested in from music I know well. I’ve never taken a single class or vocal lesson. I’m told I can “carry a tune”, but have no idea what my actual singing voice is like. I tend to try to match the person I’m singing if possible.
Is someone who hasn’t had any professional training going to benefit from starting lessons with you? I can’t tell if you specialize in leveling people up, or if you can start from the ground up.
*Also I couldn’t figure out how to submit this not in all caps… not intentionally yelling 🙂
Hey Lincoln, thanks for your message! Yes, actually, helping people find their true voice and leveling up is a huge part of what I do. A private lesson is a great way to explore what the next steps are since I’ll be able to see where you’re at. Feel free to book a lesson!
Interested in signing up but can an 11 year old join?
Hey Daniella, yes. If you’re 7 or older and are in Austin, you can book a Free In-Person Lesson.
Or if you’re outside Austin, you’ll need to book a 30 or 60 minute Skype Lesson.
can i schedule an in-person first lesson?
Hey David, as long as you’re in Austin, Texas, you can book a free, in-person lesson by following these steps:
Select Free First Voice Lesson > Set your time zone > Click “Set time zone” > Select a convenient day and time > Click Continue > Enter your info > Click Complete Appointment
I love singing, i don’t think i’m that bad at it but i’M not that good either.
i really do need someone to help me improve because i want to be able to sing freely without that many mistakes. What should i do?
Hey Maria, thanks for your message.
You have a couple options. You could
1) Book an online lesson on this page or…
2) Get on the waitlist for my complete video singing course Master Your Voice here:
hi,please i really love music and i want to be a musician but unforturnatly i have a very bad vocal voice, firstly,i always surfer in high note and breathing, then i also have poor pitching and always not on key i always go off beat when the key is so high.
Hey Ida, I think that ANYONE can improve their voice.
Feel free to book a first lesson and we’ll get right to work on these issues!
I am thinking about signing on for your first evaluation. I’ve been singing all my life but mostly in the past 25 years. I’m 58 years old and am not ready to hang up my microphone. I have worked to develop my voice. My last singing group had me singing soprano and it always felt uncomfortable.
I’m more comfortable in the Alto / Contralto range but it’s like I have two voices and I’m having trouble with the transition between the two. I believe I’ve taken my voice as far as I can take it on my own. I’ve tried exercises and without coaching – I tend to give up on them. Maybe you can help me. I want to take my voice to a higher level. I know I can if I just had the right techniques and tools.
Hey Carol, thanks for reaching out. I’d love to help you!
I think you’ll get a lot out of it.
Feel free to sign up.
I’ve never had singing classes before.
But I am very much interested in singing.
I don’t even understand how to differentiate someone as alto, contralto, soprano e.t.c.,
Because lessons are designed based on their voice type, does this helpful for beginners?
Do I receive any feedback on my singing journey
Hey Madhuri, yes absolutely. These lessons are completely customized to your own voice and is very helpful for beginners.
And yes, we will discuss what your singing journey will look like depending on your skill level.
It is my dream to become a singer. I have natural talent and have been scouring your website for any tips to become better. I do not have the time nor the money to have lessons and wanted to know if you had any pro tips for me
Hey Heidi, thanks for your interest. But if it’s your dream to become a singer, you need to invest a LOT of time and possibly some money to achieve that dream.
Learning to sing well can take a long time and you need to commit to practicing regularly to get results.
Best of luck!
I have been looking for a singing teacher for a long time and I have been watching your youtube videos and you have an amazing voice! Wow I wish I could sing that good.

Hi matt! YOU HAVE AN AWESOME APPROACH, AND I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS ON TECHNIQUE/VOCAL WARMUPS. I DON’T CONSIDER MYSELF A SINGER YET, AS I NEED TO UNLEARN SOME VERY BAD HABITS (STRAIN / WOBBLE / IMPROPER BREATHING) AND LEARN TO APPRECIATE MY NASAL-EY VOICE. I THINK PERHAPS YOU CAN HELP ME…
I would be happy to help Rachel! Feel free to book a 50% lesson above.
